Introduction to Animation (Software Skills Open Toonz)
This course is designed for those who are confident in their drawing skills and able to draw from observation. This is an entry level course will teach the basics of animation and the software skills associated with Open Toonz Software. In this course you will know terminology such as: Keys, Tweening, Pegs; accompanied with the knowledge of how each one of these terms are used in creating any series of animations. At the end of this course, the Student will have learned how to create a walk cycle, and have the understanding to go beyond.
Introduction: 1 class
Open Toonz program features various tools for vector drawing. Open Toonz provides a solution for many styles for drawing, and this lesson will highlight those particular tools.
Schematic: 1 class
The schematic interface offers a unique way of thinking about organizing our scenes. This also allows us to create simply animations quickly, and opens us up to a unique workflow.
Flex: 2 classes
This lesson aims to create an organic and mechanical movement on flexing an arm muscle by creating collections and using them in conjunction with our schematic interface
X-sheet: 1 class
All the skills we have learned are starting to culminate. The X sheet will help us plan out our animations and turn our guessing game into focused art. In this lesson we will plan out full-bodied walk cycle.
Building a body: 2 classes
In this lesson we will build a body to create a rough animation with what we have laid out with the X-sheet.
Going for a stroll: 3 classes
This lesson will be focused on refinement of our animated walk cycle, we will import previous lessons into the scene, and we will now have a full animation –Background and Foreground.
